All-On-4 (Teeth in a Day): A Cost Efficient way for tooth replacement.
Dr. Paulo Malo was breaking new ground when he first performed what is now known as the All-On-4 treatment in 1998.
Nearly 20 years have passed since Malo first introduced the procedure in Portugal and world-wide studies have shown the All-On-4 technique is safe and effective. We have been performing All-On-4 implants for complete arch edentulism (i.e., missing all teeth in one or both jaws) at Manchester Oral Surgery for the past several years with high success rates and lower costs compared to traditional implant reconstruction.
More importantly, there is very high level of patient satisfaction with the All-On-4 treatment protocol.
Providing patients with upper and lower full arch implant-supported prostheses (sets of teeth) with the All-On-4 treatment rapidly improves the quality of life for a patient who has no teeth, a loose fitting denture or is about to lose all of their existing compromised teeth.
This is a proven long-term solution to the problem of having no teeth in one or both arches and provides long-term survival rates in both jaws. The lower costs of the procedure in relationship to conventional implant protocols is also a significant factor.
The All-On-4 treatment provides a full arch set of teeth on four implants in a relatively short period of time. Instead of the traditional protocols that necessitated removal of teeth and bone grafting procedures, and required multiple months to heal before dental implants could even be placed, the All-On-4 concept allows for immediate function by attaching a set of teeth to the implants the day the implants are placed in the vast majority of cases.
In instances when the implants cannot support a set of teeth the day they are placed, the patient only needs to wait for the implants to heal before attaching a set of teeth to them and thus, shorter overall treatment times and fewer surgeries are necessary with the All-On-4 concept.
Like any other technology, advancements have been made to the All-On-4 concept, like the development of a surgical guide for the proper angulation of tilted posterior implants, followed by completely computer generated surgical guides for the proper placement of implants. Development of the “Multi-Unit Abutment”, or connector of the implants to the set of teeth, has probably been the most significant prosthetic advancement to the All-On-4 treatment protocol.
All-On-4 gives your patients a better oral rehabilitation solution to removable appliances such as complete upper and lower dentures or traditional implant reconstruction necessitating adequate volumes of bony height, width and length to place, stabilize and maintain the dental implants to support a full set of upper or lower teeth.
All-On-4 is also a solution for patients in their 60s and 70s, who not only have insufficient volumes of bone height, width and length, but medical problems that could prohibit them from undergoing the multiple and extensive surgical procedures required.
All-On-4 means less time, lower costs and high success rates for your patients. Please let us tell you more about how we can help your patients function when they have no teeth or are in need of having their remaining teeth removed.
