Dr. Abel was born and raised in the Midwest but acquired all of his higher education in the Northeast. He obtained an undergraduate degree from MIT in 1998. Dr. Abel was awarded his dental degree from Harvard in 2003. At Harvard, he was the recipient of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain Award. Dr. Abel then moved to Philadelphia where he earned a medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. In June of 2009 he completed Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Abel is a Board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has also earned Fellowship status from the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Abel maintains active dental and medical licenses in New Hampshire and is certified for office administration of deep sedation/general anesthesia.
Dr. Abel is actively involved both in his profession and in the community. He is a past President of the Greater Manchester Dental Society (a regional component of the New Hampshire Dental Society), and he is also a former New Hampshire Office Anesthesia Evaluator. Additionally, Dr. Abel is an MIT Educational Counselor and interviews local applicants for the Office of Admissions. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife Sue, their two sons Soren and Henry, and their dog Milo.
